Welcome to Downtown St. Johns! The City of St. Johns is the County Seat of Clinton County, Michigan and is located about 20 miles north of the State Capital of Lansing. St. Johns is surrounded by some of the finest farmland in the state and had the distinction of being the "Mint Capital of the World" for nearly a century, thus earning the nickname of "MINT CITY USA".

Established in 1856, the City of St. Johns was incorporated in 1857 and became the County Seat in 1860. During this time, a business district developed along Clinton Avenue, which remains the main thoroughfare for the Downtown business district today.

Vibrant downtowns reflect the heritage and civic pride of our community, and are critical to attracting industry, investment, and visitors to an area. As the traditional heart and hub of government, commerce, justice, and social interaction, the downtown business district plays a crucial role in the overall image of a community.

The City of St. Johns has worked hard to retain its hometown quality while keeping pace with today's society.
